My baby was almost 3 months old & got her first cold with congestion & stuffed up nose. She could not breath if she was laying down flat so our Pediatrician recommended for her to sleep in her swing. That was the only way her sinuses could drain & she could rest. I put the swing next to my side of the bed & locked her in. I reclined the swing as far as it would go back (Fisher Price Ocean swing). She slept fine & was safe & sound. I did it for two nights. I see no problem with it occasionally. It's just like putting them in a car carrier but less scrunched up.
