  • That's really a hugely personal decision. To each his own :) I had all three of mine without any drugs but they weren't as readily available when I had my children.

  • I had epidurals with all three of mine, but the last one didn't take and it screwed up my back, too. It hurt like hell without the epidural (because I was induced, too) but with the back issues, I don't know if it is worth it or what I will do with the next baby.

LOL! I was going to add that if they'd given me drugs I'd have taken them in a heartbeat.

  • I WENT NATURAL WITH MY FIRST AND WITH MY SECOND I WILL BE DOING THE SAME.. NOT BECAUSE IMMA STRONG WOMEN AND I NEED TO PROVE MY WORTH... IM PARANOID AND DON'T WANT MY BABY TO BE DRUGGED. I DON'T WANT TO TRUST THE DRUG I JUST LIKE THE FACT THAT IN MY HEAD I DIDNT HURT MY BABY. IT'S PROBABLY HARMLESS BUT NO CHANCES ARE TAKEN WHEN IT COMES TO MY CHILD'S HEALTH. I HOPE I DON'T SOUND STUPID. I KNOW PPL WHO DIDN'T GO THROUGH WITH NATURAL BIRTH AND BABIES CAME OUT SUPER HEALTHY. IT'S JUST ME.

  • 1st epidural worked perfectly, 2nd didn't work and had to ask for shots. 3rd was all natural w/o anything except an understanding husband and 911 operator that turned out to be my cousin. You would have thought I was a sailor. lol If after 30 years there's a #4, I'm demanding 2 epidurals just in case #1 doesn't work.

  • Why would you want a natural birth ??
Why would you want a medicated birth ??

What do you want/not want and why ?

For myself, I won't ever choose drugs or any unnecessary interventions (even vaginal exams, etc) because of the unnecessary risks. No need for that, too many safer wonderful options.

  • Define natural. I delivered vaginally but needed help to control the pain. I still delivered a baby and didn't have a c-section. As it turned out my daughter had the cord around her neck when I went into a contraction and the cord stressed and snapped at her belly button site. The doctors had never seen this before and were thankful that I was already doped up. Her Apgar scores were 2, 4 & 7. She was very blue and I knew there were problems but the drugs helped take the edge off of the entire situation. She was born at about 6:30 pm and I didn't get to see her until almost 3 AM. I am very glad I had the epidural and all the other drugs they gave me because if I didn't have them I would have been in worse emotional shape than I was already in.
