4 Bumps

Finally found an adoptive family for my rescue dog.

I've had her since August and become quite attached. How do I handle giving her away?

  • bow downyou rock  That's  a great thing you did!  As hard as it is, if you have pets of your own, or if you continue to foster pets, your home & your heart will always be filled w/ furry, unconditional love!  :)

  • Thoroughly research the family, even go to the new place and make sure she will be well cared for. I have a rescued shelter dog that I've had for four years. He is a beautiful one-eyed Cockerspaniel, who simply couldn't be more sweet if I paid him to be. I understand how devastated you must be. One thing the shelter told me when I picked him up, is that even though we live about 60 miles away, the guy would be more than happy to come pick him up at my house if ever I changed my mind. I thought that was sweet.

  • I foster dogs for a local shelter and am constantly saying goodbye and hello. I have a foster dog now that has been with me since July but she is going home on Tuesday. For me letting them go is easy and it brings me joy to know that I followed through with my mission of helping a once homeless dog find a loving home. With each one that leaves, it creates room for me to help another.
