  • I had it when I was in my 20's. Lots of lower abdominal pain, esp. when you're on your cycle. It causes adhesions to form & in my case, that caused my tube to attach to my bowel. Very painful. I had surgery for it twice. They do it laparoscopically. Hormone therapy & pain meds helped w/ the symptoms too. Ultimately getting pregnant is what cured me. My son is quite the miracle child in more ways than one! :)

  • I was diagnosed just before my 19th birthday with late stage 3 early stage 4 endometriosis (my dr suspected I had this all the back to when I was 16). I had been having ovarian cysts since I was about 12. I have had 3 surgeries and during my 3rd they removed an ovary that had a chocolate cyst (blood filled) inside of it (the ovary burst open when he touched it to move it). They took my tube as well. I had my 2nd surgery at 21 and the 3rd at 23. All of them were about 15 -18 mos apart. There were all done laporscopically. Recovery time wasn't bad about 7-10 days each time. My symptoms haven't been as bad since I had my DD but they are getting worse again. The only thing that seemed to help was to have cauterization of the lesions done and going into chemical menopause for 6 mos. The treatments aren't fun but they help the symptoms are so much worse.

  • Liz I have the same problem and have not been diagnosed at all. Not having insurance is keeping me from getting help, some days are worse than others.

  • Thanks! The Dr.'s keep giving me the run around trying to tell me that my issues are GI related but my symptoms are excruciating pelvic pain, like contractions, major lower back pain and pain that runs down my legs.... basically pain from below my belly button all the way down to just above my knee all the way around 24/7. Otherwise I feel great everywhere else. Im so frustrated, I've been out of work for 2 weeks now AND have had to withdrawl from school till they figure this out, meanwhile I am suffering big time!! =(
