Why are people giving Whitney Houston a hard time?

It really pisses me off when I hear people say shit about Whitney Houston, like "This is what happens when you turn to drugs" and shit like that. Well duh! But drugs weren't the only the only thing killing her. It was the pressure of her fame, her abusive husband probably (I HATE BOBBIE BROWN) and who knows what else. So give the woman a freaking break!

  • I don't know. I thought those comments were shocking. I was raised not to speak ill of the dead.

  • Yeah! Why can't we just reflect on the kind of artist she was and focus on the good things her talent brought to our lives. She was one of the soundtracks to my life! I would listen to her whenever I had a crush on a boy, had my heart broken by a boy or I just wanted to feel inspired. She was a true inspiration and always a comfort to me in hard times of my life. I could care less what kind of life she lived. NOBODY IS PERFECT! Did anyone else not get that memo?

  • I told my daughter's earlier that she was probably the most gifted female artist in my time. She's timeless, don't worry about the haters.

  • was it here in cafemom? If so I can believe it, too many women in a small space lol and some women live to tear other women down, sad really. I feel the same about speaking ill of the dead, if you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all, esp when its someone you dont personally know!!! We all have our struggles and that was hers, doesnt mean she deserves to be judged in her death....people should be more respectful of her family, we wouldnt want someone being so critical of our loved ones when they pass.

  • She hid behind drugs. She used them in every part of her life. During her marriage, during her divorce. She tried to come clean but never accomplished it. A drug addict is not a role model even if she had a great voice or did some acting. If she was anyone else in the world most people wouldn't care. But because she was famous and made great songs and movies we have to set that aside.

  • Thank you. I wasn't a huge Whitney fan or anything but to hear peole say things like "Oh well, that's what you get crackhead" is just downright ignorant to say when someone loses their life. Have an ounce of decency people.

  • it's funny, it has not even been announced, the cause of death. But so many people see sufferers of addiction as worthless and throw away people. so few are even slightly educated about addiction, that it is a disease no different than cancer or heart disease. No one asks to be an addict. It is a horrible suffering way to live. All life is sacred, as long as there is life there is hope for change. Hope for recovery. her death has taken away all the possibilities of her future. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. No one should have to die and be so cruelly talked about as if she were nothing more than dog shit on people's shoes

  • Right @ couponluv just like people assumed Amy Winehouse died of an overdose when came out that she didnt.
@ robinkane I dont think anyone said a drug addict was a role model, however that doesnt meam people can just be disrespectful because she had issues, why is it only the negative people do that is focused on, I guess you know someone thats perfect, interesting! I disagree with you saying if she wasnt famous no one would care, people loose loved ones to addiction EVERYDAY!!!! They do care about them and they grieve their loss in the same way, you come off highly judgemental, but your not the ultimate judge and you yourself will be judged one day from the one who matters!
