Newborn belly button bleeding!!!!

my newborn is bleeding where her cord was until it fell off tuesday...monday b4 that her dr seen her n said it was nice n healthy but now shes bleeding...im waiting for pediatrician to call me now...has ne1 ever experienced this??? advice please

  • What did the doc say? You can always call the hospital nurses. They are there and awake anyway, and may save you a trip. Maybe her diaper rubbed around the belly button too much, hope she's ok!!!

  • My daughter's cord snapped during delivery. She barely had anything left at her bellybutton site. When it did finally fall off it was the size of a tiny raisin. She never had any bleeding.

    You could use some hydrogen peroxide to clean it up with. It won't hurt her. It will just bubble up and disinfect the area.

  • My daughter's fell off then I noticed some dry blood and looked a little red. I did go to my peds office the doctor did clean it out very good, it was fine. You can have them look at it, this is what I did. Some peds do not want you to use anything to clean it out, reason being so it will dry out and heal quicker. However, if she is bleeding a good amount they take her to the E.R.
