If your dau was invited to a Mardi Gras themed party- would you send her in a dress?

I felt so bad for my dau yesterday- the invite for this party did not say anything about wearing a dress. Most B-day parties aren't dressy occasions at this age. All but 1 other girl had a dress on at that party. And you'd think they would've talked about it at school so she could've had a heads up. Poor thing said she felt foolish :( (her words) Has this happened to you? Would you have thought that meant to dress up? Just curious.

  • No not unless it said dress required. I probably would have sent mine in regular clothes. Maybe nice jeans, nice top and some boots.

  • I would have assumed normal dress for the party unless it was said on the invite. Next time have her ask the girl inviting her what they are wearing that way she doesn't feel bad again.

  • A dress is not required at a Mardi Gras party. Purple and gold colors, beads, yes, but not a dress.

  • They should have indicated that on the invitation.

  • I would think that a dress would be an odd choice for a Mardi Gras party, beads a funny hat, etc,, tell your kiddo not to worry,,

  • Awww I hate that for her.. Heck I think we as adults have that issue some times as well.. I guess its a learning lesson.. But No I would not have thought that either.. We always try to "dress nice" when we go to parties.. but that does not always mean reaching for a DRESS! I am sure she looked wonderful and remind her that she put her best foot forward and that is all that matters .. *big hugs for ackward moments!*
