  • Yep. My 18 yr old had his tonsils out at around 8. It went well but it was much more painful since he was 8 and my dd whose now 7 had her out at 3 and recovered much quicker. My same dd at age 4 broke her arm playing on the trampoline, and we were at ER then transported to the childrens hospital and had emergency surgery on her arm. She did well in both cases. I think in all 3 cases it was much harder on me worrying, then on them. They recovered fine, and quickly, I was a wreck.

  • My son had surgery on his skull at 4 months old. He did amazing and was back to his happy, bouncy self in a couple of days, even with his eyes practically swollen shut. Most kids bounce back from surgeries faster than adults do.

  • It was nothing major, but my oldest had tubes put in at 11 months. She had frequent ear infections up until then. The tubes helped immensely.

  • My 11 week old had abdominal surgery for a hydrocele and exploration for undescended testes. He did fine. I think he was prescribed tylenol w/ codeine for 2 days (it was 21 years ago, so it's hard to remember). His dad fainted.

  • My son had to have tubes put in his ears when he was 9 months old. I was so anxious about it, but he had been so sick for so long and we had tried so many antibiotics that we just had to do the tubes. He did fine. He was absolutely normal and fine after a few hours.

  • At 2 years 10 months my daughter had her addenoids removed. In 6th grade she had an emergency appendectomy on Halloween morning.

At 1 year my son had his first set of ear tubes put in. He woke up from the anastheasia in a nasty mood. He screamed to go to the Brave Store and get his brave toy for the surgery. After he upset some of the other patients in recovery they let us leave immediately, but called later that day to find out if he was ok.

  • My son was 4 and had his tonsils and adenoids out. He didn't do too well afterwards, he was sick for about 3 weeks. Had to have the surgery redone after a week because he broke open his incision.
