It told the story of Jill Kinmont (Booth), who was a skier trying to make the Olympic team in 1955. One week after her picture was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she crashed while skiing and was paralyzed from the shoulders down.
She went on to have a career as a teacher and painter. Yesterday, she died at the age of 75.
While the world rightfully mourns the loss of the talent that is Whitney Houston, Jill Kinmont Booth should also be remembered, because she stands as someone who took what life had thrown at her and made something good out of it. RIP.
