  • My spouse did not. My friend's spouse had a group vasectomy. Dan and a couple of buddies rented a limo, went to the doctor together, then spent the afternoon on someone's couch with ice packs, watching bad movies and eating junk food.

  • He was a big ass baby about it. Then, we found out I had cervical cancer and I had to have a hysterectomy which proved to me that the universe has an amazing sense of humor.

Anyway, it's wasn't a big deal. He sat with a frozen bag of peas on his crotch for a couple of days and then went back to work.

Believe me, he'll milk it for all it's worth (no pun intended)

  • My husband had his in June of 2005, the day after our youngest baby was born. He said it was a total piece of cake. The worst part of it was the smell of burning skin when he was being cauterized. The only problem he had afterward was when our three year old ran toward him and head-butted him in the crotch the day after it was done, LOL. My only advice is to make sure he goes back for two clear counts before trusting that pregnancy is not a risk.

  • My DH did. He said the hardest part was having to hand a cup of his stuff to the nurse.

  • annanonnymommy, my husband was like that, too. He wanted to get it done when I was like 3 months pregnant, but I wanted him to wait until the baby was born. He was fine with scheduling it for the day after, since I couldn't have sex for 6 weeks anyway.

  • My dh hs not but we are planning on having him snipped when we're done havin' babies. My BIL just had his a couple weeks ago and unfortunately it was a little more painful then expected. The doc has difficulty finding the urethra? or cord? whatever it is that gets snipped. He had to dig around for a bit and pull a little harder. So he experienced more pain than normal and had discomfort for a few days after. But that's not normal. My dh was a corpsman in the Navy and assisted with the procedure many times. He said it is very quick and almost completely painless. Make sure your give him as much support as you can, it's gotta be scary for a guy to think a doctor cutting anything that close to his family gems. Good luck!

  • mine was all for it, was ready to call the doctor and schedule it. but then we found out that my insurance would cover a tubal 100% and we would have to pay for a vasectomy out of pocket. so i got fixed instead. a friend of ours just scheduled his and is ready for it too!

  • I got my tubes tied instead. I had better insurance. I don't think I could have talked DH into it even if the situation had been reversed. Men have a thing about their balls.
