Really is that how they train the staff to treat customers like this? *little long*

My husband went to Five Guys today to get some burgers for lunch. We just got done with buying groceries and gas up the car. Well the girl and the register swiped my husband's card twice and said the card was declined. Okay there should be over 100 dollars left on the account and the total was only 17.79. So my husband comes home and calls the bank. Come to find out the gas station charged my husband the 20 bucks that he bought in gas and put a 75 dollar hold for some strange reason. The bank rep said that 75 dollar charge should fall off with in 72 hours. The problem was 5 Guys charged my husband's debit card 17.79 four times!! Basically for nothing because the cashier said his card was declined. So my dh had to call 5 Guys corporate office and they told him to call the store he went to to have them reverse the charges. Well the assistant manager that answer the phone got really smart with my dh and said there was no charges and they were not going to give him free money! My dh even had to tell him to calm down and let him explained what the bank rep said. The man just kept yelling and hung up on him. So my dh called the corporate office again and explained what happen. So now we have to wait until tomorrow for them to get back to us and work on this issue.
How could some people be so rude? I mean my dh wants a refund that they charged him for nothing. They didn't give him food and yet they still got money from him. On top of that man acts like my dh is trying to steal from them or something. What happen to customer service these days? All I know is we are never going back to that place.

  • I had that happen at a restuarant too and they reversed the charges right away, even though it was still a pain in the butt for me, they at least fixed it. What a jerk! I'd be filing a complaint against them to the BBB or something. They should be kissing your ass!

  • We learned that about them charging ourcard $75 for gas when using a card at the pump,it's really stupid and I don't know why they feel they needed to do that, it was a shock and they did it at a time when that was money we needed for food only to learn we couldn't use it till they put it back on three days later. It's also hard for the elderly to walk sometimes and they have no choice but to go in and pay,I think it's ridiculous. I would show them a printout of the transaction from online and take it right to the manager. He owes an apology. (manager)

  • Advise your bank these are unauthorized charges and have them deal with it. Meanwhile, call the manager and let him know some cashier training is called for and how much time and money and problems this cost you. Send this in writing to the corporate office.

  • Get a bank statement showing the charges from the restraunt so you can show them proof.. Some people are just pricks.. i wouldn't go there again either... One person can reflect on the whole company
