Do your kids ever get very sick from eating chocolate? I really need opinions on this, please

This is the second time that my 4 year old has bee violently ill and the only thing I can link it to is too much chocolate.

I let her have one or two peices at a time every now and then (we generally eat healthy). Well, I was at work Saturday and my mom decided to be what she called "a good grandma" and gave her an entire bag of Hersey Kisses. (Second time my mother has done this and asked her NOT to tell me. "It's their little secret"). Early Sunday morning, DD wakes up vomiting and with severe diarrhea. She is better today, but all day yesterday she was so sick (no fever). I'm really pissed at my mother. She knows DD has a sensitivity to sugar.

So, I'm curious,....anyone else's kids get sick like this from too much chocolate?

When I was younger I remember my aunt making tons of chocolates and candies for Christmas. I binged on all the yummy chocolate on hand. Bad idea...I was throwing up for 2 days after this event. You could always discuss this with her pedi just to make sure she isn't allergic to chocolate, but I know I was terribly ill after eating too much chocolate. I think I was 12 when this happened.

My ds does,, it is rich, and if your not used to it,, well you know the outcome,, her tummy just can't handle it,, heck I am not sure my tummy could handle an entire bag,, lol

None of my kids get sick like that.thts way to much sugar for nyone it would make me sick as well.

My SIL is allergic to chocolate and nuts. Could she be having an allergic reaction? Check with the doctor.

That's what I'm thinking Kimi....her body isn't use to it. No way in the world could I eat a bag and not be sick too.

A girl I know is like this, can only have small doses of chocolate, could be some kind of allergy to the sugar or dairy. you should have had your mom come over and clean up the mess. Jeez!! Love grandmas but sometimes they just don't get it LOL!

No, it sounds like she may be allergic to an ingredient in that specific chocolate? & of course ate way too much.

My friend is allergic to chocolate and gets like that from even the smallest amount of chocolate. She has no dairy or sugar allergy, but the actual chocolate. But, it sounds like it's from eating an entire bag of the Kisses. That would make anyone sick.
