There are good questions and then there are

not so good questions.

I'm trying to teach my youngest how to ask good questions to help her get good detailed answers. In my attempt to teach her this life long lesson I was trying to formulate in my mind just what is a good question.

I thought about the many questions on here that some ladies really take the time to do research, before asking and to them I can appreciate the effort. Not that I don't appreciate all the other questions but I really like those post that get me to thinking. I might not have anything to add but none-the-less it's thought provoking and I like that. Are there certain questions or sections that you are drawn to answer or ask a question where other sections you just don't even bother?

  • Hummm...I don't bother with a lot of the TTC questions simply because I don't understand all of the lingo. I just went off of BC & had sex to make my babies. LOL, I don't know about all of the tests and etc.

  • A lot of the time I take pleasure in helping someone that may not have the information they need. It doesn't matter how the question is stated; often those most grammatically incorrect are the ones where assistance is needed the most. Isn't that why most of us are here?

That said, I stay out of P&CE and RD because I'm not well versed enough to make any sort of intelligent contribution to the discussion. I'm also rarely in TTC.

  • I answer most questions, I do try to stay out of RD, and I rarely poke my head into P&CE. The questions that really baffle me though are the "I had unprotected sex, can I be pregnant?" Those I usually answer with sarcastic answers, because I think even a 13 year old girl should know that having unprotected sex leads to pregnancy. Those types of questions are the ones I find truly bad questions.

  • I like the religion sections and I also like ones that are for fun as well as questions about teens and beauty (since I graduated cosmetology school and whatnot. I like ones that make me think- but I also like simple ones too ;)

  • for me, you can't judge this site's general rule of questionry (haha..just made that up.) by comparing its questions. they run the gamut of silly to strictly information to philosophical to debate-worthy..which brings us back to silly, a lot of the time.
for instance, if you asked, ''what makes a good question?''..you'll get all kinds of answers, depending on your responders, as you now see.
if you simply ask, ''what questions do you like to answer?", you'll get different answers also, but very short and to the point..no need for the responder to think further than your simple question.

there are a few sections i don't bother with because i already know it doesn't interest me(technology, ttc) or i have no workable knowledge. (military, for one) otherwise, its free-game.

  • Most of the time if I read a question I will answer it, if I have anything of value to add,, I really don't have a favorite or a not favortie category, just answer if I have knowledge or something to add.

  • I gravitate toward the fun categories and less serious. I really can't add anything on pregnancy, etc. since I am so far removed from it with grown children.
