I want to know something about valentine. What is its history and why people celebrate this day? Is there only one day to express their feelings or they confine their love just only for one day? And they hatred each other for remaining 364 days. Why people limitise their emotions of love within specified day. Love is a sentiment which develop day by day, not only for one day. adult content

    Mostly it's a Hallmark holiday
If that's the only day you're nice to one another, this holiday is the least of your problems

  • i want to know why this post is flagged TMI..lol.
you can google the history of Vday ver quickly.
as for your other inquiries, most healthy-spirited people do celebrate love daily, and not just one day a year. the 'holiday' is just another attempt to circulate the calories and the economy. some people 'celebrate' by purchasing items for their loveys, and some go as far as to have mini-Christmases for their kids..much like Easter has turned into, as well.
either way, it keeps the economy rolling..nothing wrong with that unless you are in debt and go further in debt to purchase unnecessarily, or forego paying outstanding debts in order to buy a dozen red roses..or games, or CDs, or jewelry, or fancy dinner, new tires, etc.

btw..i'm getting everyone of you what i got you last year.

  • The orginal reason is because of a monk. His name was Valetine and he was marrying people that the Church was refusing to marry. He ended up getting killed for what he was doing. That is the basis for Valentine's Day, it is to celebrate the love because he was marrying couples that were very much in love but the church refused to recognize (I believe it was mixed couples back then) and he died for love. Now though it just seems to be a commercialized holiday.

  • Being in jail or dead is no excuse for non-performance of the supernatural. One legend says, while awaiting his execution, Valentinus restored the sight of his jailer's blind daughter. Another legend says, on the eve of his death, he penned a farewell note to the jailer's daughter, signing it, "From your Valentine."
There were many saints with the name valentine. At least one died on Feb. 14 and that is the feast day for all.

If you put "saint a day" in your search engine it should take you to several pages that can give you more info.

  • And this is why I have never made a big deal out of Valentine's day. Expressions of love, tenderness and affection are much more meaningful when they come from the heart than when they are made because Hallmark set aside a day specifically for it.

  • You can google why. Personally, I think it's a day that people can go over the top and make sure their loved ones feel extra special - I don't know why so many people get bent out of shape about it. My husband makes me feel special every day of the year, but it's one day that he really goes all out, and that's nice.
