Why do my plastic containers keep coming out greasy & slimy after they're washed in the dishwasher?! ARG!

  • They are probably getting too hot during the drying cycle and melting a little. When they cool the plastic hardens again and a little oily film is left on the surface.

    You're putting them on the top rack, right?

  • I never put plasticware in the dishwasher. I think it's too hot in there for plastic, so I handwash in the sink!

  • top or bottom it happens. i will just have to start handwashing them. i rinse all my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher anyway.

  • our plastic plates & cups don't have that though. i even put the cheap take n toss sippy cups in the dishwasher & they come out fine.

  • There is a commercial about that. I've seen it a million times but can't recall the product or the reason it happens. Kitchen counselor intervenes when mom thinks teenage daughter is motioning to be paid for emptying the dishwasher....You've probably seen it also.

  • Try adding 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the final rinse.

    (I know this is my solution for everything but it works!)
