OK Ladies! who makes there own taco seasoning?

I want it to taste similar to n taco kit you would buy, but make my own with spices. Do you have a recipe for just the dry spices to use?

  • We started using one from cooks.com a while ago - haven't gone back to premix since then. They have quite a few variations, this is the one we use:

  • I normally use chili powder (and lots of it), extra cumin, and a little tomato paste. It's really easy and WAY better than that nasty packet stuff.

  • salt, black pepper, garlic and onion powders, cumin, paprika, oregano and chili powder. To taste.

    Or... I like to use a Spanish packet called Sazon in an orange box. with a little salt and lime. But it doesn't taste like the kit stuff. (I like it better though)

  • Taco Seasoning:
    4.5 tsp. paprika;
    1 tsp. cumin powder;
    0.5 tsp. oregano;
    1 tsp. chili powder;
    1 tsp. onion powder;
    0.25 tsp. lemon powder (optional, I've never used it);
    1 tsp. salt;
    1 tsp. sugar;
    0.5 tsp. garlic powder;
    1 tsp. flour;
    0.5 tsp. cocoa powder
    Mix all together and store in airtight container. Makes approx. 4 tablespoonful - the equivalent of 1 package of seasoning This mix is very mild, I add cayenne.
