1 Bump

Do you think it is rude of people to call after @8:oo at night if you have small children?

I hate it when my husbands friends who do not have kids call at like 9 or 10 oclock. We try to get the kids in bed between 8 and 9 and it distrubs them when the phone rings. They will pop out of there rooms and not want to get back in bed. They know that we are getting them ready for bed or have them in bed and will still call late.
Would anyone else be aggravated by that?

  • No... I think it is rude to call after 9:30 pm in general though. But we only have a cell phone so it isn't that disturbing.

  • Yes, I do. But, most people no longer have home phones. So, they are no longer trained to think about stuff like that.

  • that's when I would turn the ringer off of the phones. I don't like to be on the phone anyway because that's all I do all day long. I would definately turn the phones of if possible. I would tell them not to call because you won't be answering. Maybe check the phones after you know they have fallen asleep and then call them back if you feel it's necessary. If it's that important they can leave a message.

  • No. If it is a friend or family member it's fine. If it is for a sales call or anything else I prefer those done during traditional business hours. I hate the college requests for donating money to my former schools the most.

  • you don't have to answer the phone. if your dh insists on continuing a conversation with the caller, i'd be more pissed at him.

  • No, not friends or family.
I get annoyed by telemarketers (the few that seem are not bothered by the do not call list) who call up until 9pm.
After 10 pm is a whole other story.

  • No. I have friends with kids and without and they know what time we go to bed and my kids know just because the phone rings doesnt mean they have to get out of bed. When they were small that was especially true I mean whose calling them anyway? Everyone knows not to call after around 10 because me and dh go to bed.

  • I think it's rude to call anyone after 9 p.m. for a non-emergency, unless that person has expressly told you it's OK.
