Anyone done Rosetta Stone/languages?? (idc if its recatted.)

i am almost certain our 6.5yo is not going to want to sit and listen/learn, by CD/computer, to these CDs . my well-meaning dh ordered the first set, not discussing it with me or ds..for ds, @ $179.

i can so see this as a waste of money...oh i'm sure if one is willing, one could learn from them, but we're talking about a 6.5yo.
seriously.

someone tell me i'm wrong, please.

  • You're not wrong. I have the Portuguese one and even I don't want to sit down and listen to it.

  • :( This is a common trend. And it's frustrating as hell. I'm not even sure if there's a viable solution to it. Maybe The Best Boy In the World™ will totally dig it but it's boring. There are these sort of whacky graphics with pictures popping up all over the place and poor voice overs.

  • I know 4 year olds that sit through those CD's and learn very quickly. They are hands on, fast paced and fun. I have tried them. They are far from boring. There are songs, pictures, videos that are interesting and colorful. Before you assume it's not going to work, try it out.

  • here's the real kicker: i took French in high school, retained some...and i'm sure Spanish is a better choice these days...but you know, brawynwyn, dh is not going to be the one to sit ds down to do this! he's never here, always working. never home to do squat..so who does that leave..to be blamed if it 'doesn't work'??
the same person who's to blame for us not being dog-people...yeah, i'll email that at another time.

    sorry, i guess i'm venting.
