  • Was the first one recommended by a doctor? If not, please do not do it again. If yes, contact your doctor and ask him. A five week old should not be given anything unless prescribed by a doctor.

  • No, not unless your doctor specifically stated that this was an appropriate treatment. Typically they aren't necessary. Babies don't poop as often as older children and adults.

  • He'll be okay but they shouldn't really be used at all. Is he breast fed?

  • A 5 week old should be seen if they cannot pass stool. It needs to be determined if he is getting enough nourishment, if he is dyhydrated and if it is a problem other than constipation. Do not give him another unless directed by a Dr, RNP or PA. Call the Dr's after hours line.

  • Call your doctor in the morning. Don't do anything else till you talk to your doctor.
