3 Bumps

Nook Color, Kindle Fire or Tablet PC?

I am considering getting one of the three ... tablet PC will be either a Toshiba or a Samsung. I've read reviews on the Nook (no return policy on books) and the Kindle (power button in bad place) and I have played with both in stores. Haven't been able to play with a Toshiba yet.

What do you have?

What do you like/dislike about it?

Would you recommend it?

  • The Kindle but I'll tell you, I'd grab the Toshiba if I could. We tested it for our physicians when we adopted the EHR and it was really slick. MUCH nicer and more intuitive than Apple even.

  • I have the Kindle Fire. I have nothing bad to say about it. It's just like any other tablet out there, you are hooked directly to an amazon.com account to make purchases, runs off wifi, and you don't have to pay extra money to use it (except for an internet connection of course) like you would for the tablets that you get in the store.

  • I bumped you, but I don't have any right now. I have a Kindle, but not the Fire. When I "upgrade," I am getting a Fire or whatever new Kindle is out at that time, so long as it isn't a dud.

  • I love my kindle fire. I like that it does every thing the tablets do (other than ipads webcam) for so much less money. I like the compact, but not hard to read size too! The fire is more than an ereader because its Color and is great for net surfing and playing games like words with friends. I have a kindle subscription to Vanity Fair and I love how beautiful the pictures look on it. No complaints. The power button is not a problem.

  • So the Kindle Fire is really just a scaled down version of a tablet pc? Normally I am tech savvy but this e-reader vs tablet thing has me confused. I've done the research and that just confuses me more.

Are there any kind of issues you guys have had with your Kindles??

@Brawnwynll ... I have a fondness for Toshiba products. It used to be Sony until I fell in love with a Toshiba laptop. We both have Toshiba laptops and both of our TVs are Toshiba (one flat, one tube).
