Great Pyrenees/Bull Mastiff cross dogs?

Has anyone had experience with this breed/cross of dog? We're thinking of adopting a puppy that's a GP/BM cross, we've had a GP cross before and he was the absolute best dog anyone could ever want. When we talked about our next dog we didn't want to go as big, but these puppies are just so adorable. So I'm just wondering if anyone has had this cross before and has anything to say good or bad about them. Thanks!

  • If these are coming from a "breeder" I would pass, but if they are rescues or pound puppies and you are able to handle such a big dog, go for it. The reason I say NO breeder is because most likely it is a backyard breeder. In my opinion, a RESPONSIBLE breeder will not breed mutts (these are NOT a breed, these are mutts/mix-breeds; nothing wrong with mutts, but I do NOT support backyard breeders in any way/shape/form).

  • I haven't had that breed, but I would imagine it's the same as any other mix....just depends if they are good lines they came from...bad breeding and irresponsible breeding can make a difference.

  • I don't have any dogs. But both of those dogs are like mini horses. They are huge. The GP is a beautiful looking dog. The BM is all muscle. I can't imagine what the puppies would look like.

  • They're not from a 'breeder', I think they're an oopsident when mom and dad got together. The owners are only asking $15 or best offer, basically just trying to get rid of them. Like I said we had a Great Pyrenees before, he just died this past summer and we're finally ready for another dog, so a big dog isn't really a problem for us. We weren't really looking for a big dog again, more of a mid sized dog, mostly because it's easier to take a smaller dog places with us ... but these puppies are very adorable and we absolutely loved our GP Earl. I think I'll talk to dh about it today, I think we're both basically waiting for the other one to say 'let's do it!' Thanks everyone!

  • Just wanted to add that I should have phrased it 'experience with these breeds/cross of breeds" I know the cross isn't a breed, but I'm a fan of mutts anyway!
