Bonding issues

When I was pregnant with my son I didnt bond with him and wouldnt even want to be around him. We kind of have a little better realationship now but Im pregnant again and not bonding with this one either. I told my boyfriend I didnt think I could do this it was to over welming but he said Id be fine. Hes deployed till October, no family, and live very far from friends. I dont know what to do. Please help me

  • Let your ob/gyn know. You may have a form of post pardum depression. Also seek out a local mom's group. It may help to see how other moms are around their own kids.

  • I would defiantly talk to your OBGYN. I agree, this could be a form of depression. I can see where butterfly is coming from because you truly do bond after the baby is born, but when I was pregnant, I had a bond with my girls from the first moment I felt them move. I don't know if you would call it bonding, but it was an overwhelming feeling of love. I know what it is like to have your husband gone, mine just returned home in January. I know you said your boyfriend, but are you where he is stationed normally? My husband is Army and there is a group called the FRG (Family Rediness Group) you could try to get in contact with them. The women in my FRG are wonderful. They were there for me through a lot and I truly appreciate them. It's worth a try. Also, you can message me if you ever need anything. I am always willing to listen and I will try to help as best as I can :)
