Do parents go through seperation anxiety. I think I am......

My daughter started kindergarten this year and I am a stay at home mom so I have been with her since she was born. I had a baby the week she started kindergarten and I thought that I would be glad she would be at school since I wouldn't get to spend as much time with her and that I could focus on the baby. But I really miss her. I can look at her stuffed animals or flip the channels and see cartoons and it makes me want to cry because I miss her. Is this normal?

  • Normal! When your DD comes from school just tell her how much you miss her.

  • It can be. By the time my baby started school I was really happy but I did miss her a little bit. She was baby #5 though so Id been through it before.

  • Figure you had a baby not too long ago, and your hormones are still adjusting. I was pregnant when my oldest started kindergarten this year, and it was really weird not having her with me. After I lost my job and started the sahm thing again, it was even weirder. Now that my second is here, I'm a little preoccupied, but I still find myself missing my oldest. There's times when the baby is asleep that I can go hours without saying a word. I find myself checking the clock and wanting it to be time to go get her.

  • Of course. I have worked in public schools for years and I see every fall how hard it is on parents when their kids start K.
