37 weeks constant contractions but only dilated to 1cm

okay i am 37 weeks today and i am due to have a c-section and 39 weeks... i went into L&D yesterday and they sent me home cause i was only dilated to 1cm even though i was having contractions every 4 mins. I woke up this morning and my contractions are still there... is there anything i can say to the doctor to have them speed up my labor? cause i am tired of being in pain !!!!

  • I would think the doc would want to stop? the contractions?? I've been getting them a LOT too...Im 36 weeks and scheduled to have csection at 39 also...my doc told me that he would want to stop them until 37 weeks, when considered full term...I would just drink tons of water and REST...see if that doesn't help? I wish I had some better advice but Im in the same boat as you :)

  • Is your pain & planned cesarean due to health issues? You might need to check into this, depending.

    Generally it is safest to stop early contracting and wait until baby/body are ready for normal (spontaneous) labor.

    Contractions and/or dilation don't necessarily *mean* labor or that your body *is* ready now, just that they are preparing, getting closer. It could be a month before it's truly Time. Or minutes!
