Has anyone ever been breastfeeding which has caused you to have no period and found out you were pregnant again?

Odd question I know. I have been breastfeeding my daughter exclusively since birth and have had no period during this time. My husband just got home from a deployment a couple of months ago and we have been using double protection ( the mini pill for me and condoms for him) There was one night that we didn't use a condom, but as I said I am on the mini pill. I lately have been feeling "weird" again and I am terrified that I am pregnant again. I know, I know take a test, but I am afraid. I do not want another baby right now. If I am pregnant I will love the baby no matter what, but it scares me to think that I could be pregnant again. Has this happened to anyone else and what made you take the test?

  • My sister breast fed my neice also and she too had no period. But she as well used protection. She was always affraid that she was going to become pregnant and it was every month that she was taking a test and they all came back negative, i know it may be scary but if your being careful and using birth control it lowers your risk and chances are you are going to be okay and not get pregnant. But to be sure you should take a pregnancy test to show yourself that indeed everything is going to be alright:)

  • I'd be willing to bet you are not pregnant but you're going to have to take a test eventually :) Try not to panic too much. You've done the right things, birth control wise, and so I think you're okay in that regard.

  • I know two women this happened two. Both somehow had the idea in their heads that breastfeeding is a good form of birth control. You will be fertile before you have a period, so you can get pregnant without having a period

  • I know that I am still fertile of course...we have been real faithful on using forms of BC, but of course there was the one night that the only form we used was my mini pill. I know that pill isn't as accurate as others. Especially if not taken at the same time everyday. I think I will just suck it up and take a test to ease my mind. Thank you ladies.

  • Yes. I was still breastfeeding my 2nd (hadn't had a period yet) and taking the minipill (at the same time of day) when I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd. They are 18 months apart.
    But - the upside is I didn't have to deal with my period for like 3 years!

  • Oh - I took the test because I was having morning sickness, which for me is a sure sign I'm pregnant!
