  • I read recently that it's only safe once a week. My dd was eating it several times a week, but I've now cut her back to once or twice. 25MamaBear....do you also drink beer and some cigarettes?

  • I don't know. My daughter went through a tuna stage and it was every day for a while. Luckily she has had enough and won't eat it anymore. I'm sure 2x per week is fine.

  • As long as they don't get any adverse effects from mercury then they should be fine eating it 2 or 3 times a week.

  • That depends on the size of the child, and the type of tuna.

You can find a great guide to fish here:  http://www.nrdc.org/health/effects/mercury/walletcard.PDF

  • I just wish I could get my kids to eat tuna. I'm the only one that likes it.

Interesting question. I don't think it would be the same guidelines used for pregnant women, but mercury levels will vary based on the type of tuna. Canned has much lower mercury than fresh does.

  • i was told the equivalent of 1 serving per week - if it was eaten twice 1 week, then 2 times the next was okay.
