I'm reading a book about astronomy called Essential facts about the Universe. It says that particles of antimatter cannot exist in close proximity to particles of matter. They annihilate each other releasing huge amounts of energy.
I will have to think about and research this a little more. I'm headed out the door right now, but will answer better later.
In a nutshell, what I believe is this: If God exists, then God is identical to the Universe. Essentially, if God exists at all, God must be absolutely *everything* that exists.
Anyone interested in the Pandeist Theorem can read it here. I'm not sure how that really explains the purpose of antimatter though... it really doesn't, I suppose. *shrugs*
