Ok,so a woman's eggs are basically half a human..

So is it a sin to have a woman shed one(or 2) every month without it becoming a child? Is this murder or does it only matter if it has already been fertilized? Are sperm that are made daily and re-absorbed because they were not ejaculated, millions of tiny little losses of life?
yes,this is tongue in cheek.
I was thinking about the argument over whether BC pills were potentially killing a life because a zygote might have slipped by.
Are they considering that stopping a egg from popping out is a loss of potential life as well?
If this sounds strange, blame it on my fever, lol

  • I think the argument is that it contains only half of the necessary DNA to create a life, so it doesn't qualify as "murder". However, there are many times that a woman becomes pregnant without even knowing it, and for some reason (entirely natural), the zygote does not implant. That means that we should probably have funeral services each time we menstruate if we've had intercourse during that cycle, just in case we are unknowingly passing a baby into our pads, cups or tampons. We should be saving all of those used "feminine hygiene" products and either having a service, or send them to a lab to determine if there is a fertilized egg in their somewhere, right?

  • Hmm. Considering that all birth control save abstention has a failure rate, I think it remains in God's hands.

  • IMPO it is not a life until implantation is complete. Before implantation it has no chance of survival at all. MANY women passed a fertilized but unattached egg in their lives and never knew about it. That is just nature. And my opinion on birth control is this (I am sure I will get voted down here) 1) Times have changed and the world is already overly populated. The means of caring for a family have changed over the years making it unrealistic for *most* families to support 5+ children. God gave us a brain and common sense. I am sure it was not his intention for people to continuously give birth with out the means to then provide the basic needs of those children.
    2) If a child is 'meant to be' Birth control in an y from is not going to stop it. Women have given birth after having very reliable forms of birth control in place. Even tubal ligation!

  • It isn't all that strane but I hope you feel better soon.
It is the potentially fertilized egg that is the concern. A fertized egg is already a human, a very immature human but human none the less.

The egg and sperm have the potential to become a human but until they come together they are not. you're asking if they are half human is interesting but I think that potentially human would be more accurate.

    Take care of yourself.

  • Nope You do not have to get pregnant everytime you have an egg in your body. that is ready to be released.. It is the fertilized egg that is at the crux of the matter. If the body nturally aborts or discards an egg or a fertilized egg that is a natural as oposed to an unnatural process.

  • A baby has no chance of surviving until it is mature enough to live out side the womb.  IMO

Birth control Stops the fertilization of the eggs.   How can that be bad?

  • So your argument is that we SHOULD get pregnant everytime we can? because that's what god wants?
Whoo boy. I guess then I should have close to a dozen kids myself then. I've been married over 12 years
i think the potential is there IF we want to conceive not because we're MEANT to

  • I see it as any cell in your body contains all your DNA,but it is not a person on its own. A fertilized egg is human in nature,as compared to any other animal's egg,but it is not a person.
