  • I can't decide. Part of me says it is harmless just gross. Then part of me wonders if he could in some weird chance get a parasite like roundworms form them being in contaminated dirt.... I would ask the ped.

  • Though I 100% agree that this could be minimized if not stopped all together by watching him more closely.

  • He is 2 years old and plays in his room. If he finds a spider or a fly whilst he is in his room im a bit confused on how to watch him 24/7 as that would leave me unable to do anything around the house and leave him smothered!

  • you make this sound like its a constant thing. Is it?
Why does his room have dead flies and spiders?
I guess unless it's a black widow or a brown recluse,he'd be fine.
many cultures eat insects and they're fine so......

  • Spiders and flys are common where i live. I have a cat what catches the flies and then leaves them. Its every other month on average. Im from england so there are no dangerous species of spiders just common house spiders.

  • You can get worms from dead flies and bugs. I certainly wouldn't be allowing him alone if you know he does these things! If he were older, I would say it could be a sign of anemia or other deficiencies, but at this age I would suspect it is just a matter of "hand to mouth".

  • Its not often he does it therefore its highly unlikely i would follow him around the house all day. Children need their independence especially around the house otherwise its going to be alot harder for them to part with you when its school time.

  • Okay so just check his window sills or what ever for insects periodically during the day if you know this is where he finds them.... It's not rocket science.
