  • How has this information escaped her pediatrician? You're getting into the age range where this can be a serious issue, like Cerebral Palsy
Make an appointment with the doctor

  • I would not be concerned about this. If she can stand on her legs, the muscles will develop. We just went through a round of testing with my grandson who is close in age to your child. The week after all the tests were completed and his parents had been told he was fine, he took off walking.

  • You need to speak with the pediatrician. When my son was about 8 months old he could sit up but couldn't support his head. Our pediatrician wrote a prescription for physical therapy. He had low muscle tone. He had 3 months worth of treatments and it worked.

  • SHE WAS OVER 10 POUNDS AT BIRTH C-SECTION & I HAD A SPINAL BLOCK. SHE'S NOT OVER WEIGHT, BUT HAS VERY STRONG ARMS FROM PULLING HER SELF UP WITH THEM. WHEN SHE TRYS TO WALK HOLDING ON TO THE COUCH, THE FEET JUST STEP ON EACH OTHER, LIKE SHE HAS NO STRENGTH TO PICK THEM UP, THAT IS WHEN WE REALIZED IT WAS HER ARMS THAT ARE DOING ALL THE WORK.

  • MY 9 YEAR OLD SON HAD Hypotonia: means decreased muscle tone. It can be a condition on its own, called benign congenital hypotonia, or it can be indicative of another problem where there is progressive loss of muscle tone, such as muscular dystrophy or cerebral palsy. It is usually detected during infancy.
An infant with hypotonia exhibits a floppy quality or "rag doll" feeling when he or she is held.
Infants may lag behind in acquiring certain fine and gross motor developmental milestones that enable a baby to hold his or her head up when placed on the stomach, balance themselves or get into a sitting position and remain seated without falling over.
There is a tendency for hip, jaw and neck dislocations to occur. THE DR'S ARE WELL AWARE OF WHAT HE HAD. HE ONLY HAD IT IN HIS ARMS. MAYBE IT IS A GENETIC PROBLEM. AND NOW MY LITTLE GIRL IS HAVING IT IN HER LEGS. I DON'T KNOW.BUT THEY HAVN'T DIAGNOISED IT AS THAT YET.

  • WHEN MY 9 YEAR GOT DIAGNOISED WITH HYPOTONIA, HE WAS AN INFANT. MY 15 MONTH OLD IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING IN HER HIPS ALMOST MORE THAN HER LEGS. AS IF THE HIPS ARE HURTING & MAKING HER NOT WANT TO PUT WEIGHT TOTALLY ON HER LEGS. LIKE HIP DYSPLASIA ETC. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY RULED IF THAT WAS IT WITH ALL THE TESTS THEY ARE DOING ON HER.
