My 15 month old is getting picky. What do I do?

My 15 month old son is now being picky about eating. He never used to be. He used to eat just about anything and now he isn't eating much. no veggies.. little fruit. He is teething. He is getting a molar. Could this be the cause? He doesn't seem like he's starving, he just doesn't really want to eat. Is this just a phase?

  • It certainly could be the teething. Offer him a variety of healthy things and don't worry if he is sometimes picky. The worst thing you can do is start fixing only what you know he likes. Been there done that.....very stressful. And the family I sit for is now going through this too. He will not starve and as soon as he learns that the meal consists only of what you offer, he will be fine. GL

  • do not give in, do not give him only things you know he will eat - keep offering a wide variety of things.

  • Just offer, and keep in mind that he is in charge of whether, which things & how much to eat from your selection of foods.

  • They go thru stages....sometimes it's only fruit, sometimes veggies, as long as it's healthy, give him what he will eat. Be creative.

  • they go thru stages. sometimes they will eat everything and then a week later they wont eat anything. just keep offering a wide array and he will eat when he is hungry. little kids follow their stomachs better than we do so if they arent hungry they wont eat. plus, teething can make him want to eat less.
