My Kids 3 +4 still ask us to wipe their poopy bottoms, which begs the ?, when do I start teaching them to wipe their own booties?

  • Start teaching them now...give them every opportunity to do it themselves. My son is about half and half on wiping his bottom - but he's proud of himself when he does it.

  • I always taught them while potty training but they still needed help after. By the time mine were 4 they stopped asking.

  • Mine (3 & 5) do it on their own. I do double check the little one cause she can't quite reach all the way.

  • My oldest has been doing it for well over a year now...so about 3 1/2 for him.

He still calls us every once in awhile if he feels he didn't do a good enough job...

  • I start with the wiping first thing. I go behind them until they come up clean to me most of the time. That's about 3 1/4 for my kids. I think you should have started them a long time ago. Good luck!

  • I have one daycare kid that would cry becouse I refuse to wipe his for him. I think at three - they are old enough! He said it was nasty, I told him, how do you think I feel? Eventually, he learned I wouldn't do it and now he does it himself.
I teach them as soon as they are learning to potty train, practice practice practice! But, I am a firm beliver in teaching children independance.
