Do you think it is ok to sell murderabilia? adult content

What are your thoughts on this subject? I am watching Anderson this morning and he is interviewing these men who actually make money off of and collect murderabilia. I just cannot even believe this exists!! 2 women have actually come on the show, one who was shot at a school shooting and is paralyzed from the waist down and the mother who lost her daughter to murder. The one man actually has things from the crime scene and has a sketched picture of one of the murderers hands and is refusing, even after meeting the ones who have suffered from the crimes, to take these items off his site. This makes me so sick! Not sure what category to put this in.

  • It's bad enough that he is selling the stuff, but worse that he actually has buyers. What kind of a sick mind would want anything like that? What would you do with it..use it as a center piece?, a conversation starter?

  • and then the guy later goes on to say that for vacation he actually takes his wife and goes to visit these murderers. "Hey honey, Want to go meet Charles Manson today? I hear he is rather charming!" WTF I am blown away.

  • Ok I'm gonna be the one who's odd ball out. Murders intrigue me, I would jump at the chance to meet Charles Manson. Ive always been interested I the whys, how's, what started this, the thought processes of being a.kller. Now I wouldn't buy any murder memorabilia but I definitely would be intrigued and want to see it.

  • Though it's not really something I would buy...I would also be interested in seeng certain things. like Mrs_Harsh- I'm interested in what makes people do what they do or believe what they believe...It doesn't mean I have no feeling for the familys that have dealt with these horrible things, but honestly, I "get" why people would be interested in such things

  • No, I don't think it's right to sell current murderabilia. But, I'm sure there are people who have paid millions for Jack the Ripper stuff.
To me that's different because it happened so long ago that it's basically just a story, we are so far removed from it. Especially since no one from that time is still around.

  • I can see where you ladies are coming from. I guess I was more blown away at the fact that the man was so cold hearted as far as removing those items from his website even after meeting the mother and the woman who actually was affected by the crime. He just strait up said no. I can see the fascination of wanting to know why people do what they do, but why would you want a piece of the crime itself. That to me is the crazy part.

  • Not so weird. My dad took me to the Spahn Ranch where the Manson family hung out. I grew up in Chatsworth so it was crazy to think Manson lived so close (before I was born though). I read a lot of True Crime but I would never want to own part of a murder scene...

  • I think it is horrible, I watched this documentary of this serial killer from the early 1900's and he use to go around and brutally kill children. On the show this guy had collected stuff from the serial killer, even the letter the the serial killer had wrote to the mother of one of his victims telling her the gruesome details of what he did to her daughter who was only 8. The collector was very proud of his finding. I really think it is disgusting that people profit off of someone's demise.

  • I wanted to add I think there is a difference between wanting to understand what someone did and why vs being a collector of murderabelia.
