  • I think we all should be a bit concerned... but there is only so much a person can do to help...
so this family does as much as we can... we recycle, garden, use homemade cleaners,
buy in bulk so there is less waste, there is more including how you use your utilities .. how much
does your family consume and can you cut back...
we do not buy organic, besides I grow a lot and my mom does too and she cans, so I have
a yr round supply of veggies, fruit, jellies, sauces.

  • We are working on living more sustainably each day, and practicing permaculture methods on our small farm. We raise almost all of our own meat, veggies, and fruit ~ and we're working on adding grains. I bake all of our bread, make cheese and butter, and can or dehydrate the food that I grow. I'm hoping to not need a freezer by next year. We use solar power for hot water and our well, and the home we're building will be all solar. We have no cell phones, just a land line. I do have internet ... it's as much of a teaching tool as recreational, and we dumped the tv almost 10 years ago. I make our cleaners, our soaps and toothpaste, etc. from non harmful ingredients. The idea is to put back more than we take. Even living in cities for decades before we bought the farm we did a lot of the same things. The trash people used to shake their heads because in a month I had only a small bag to toss.
