What's the point?

So, I know- I should stop putting on the 700 club but today I got a wild hair and it's on. There was a question sent in that asks:
"If all the people who don't know Jesus as savior are going to Hell after they die, and those who do are going to Heaven, what's the point of the Judgement Seat? -JOSPH"

Pat Robertson's answer?
"He talks about how it's important because "we're talking about FOREVER...the lake of fire...the throne of judgement will be for acts people have done in the flesh...they are in a waiting situation...this is final. Everybody will stand before God to account for what he's done EXCEPT those who have come to Jesus...we're passed from death into light because of Jesus Christ and won't have to give an acoount at the throne of judgement for what we've done THANK GOD...but we (Christians) WILL have to stand before the judgement seat of Christ, there will be rewards for service to him."

Thoughts? Are there two different thrones? are Christians going to have to give an acoount of their actions in this life? what kind of rewards are there?

  • Pat Robertson is bat-shit crazy and I would take anything he says with less than a grain of salt.

The way I was taught was that we ALL have to face Judgment. If you accept Christ, that's in the plus column ... name in the book and all that ... but you still have to answer for what you did while alive.

  • he's crazy. and to answer this according to my personal beliefs, i'll sound crazy, too, to someone who doesn't believe in my faith/God. idk what will happen, i just hold to the *truth* that since i am a child of God, through my choice, my eternity in Heaven is secure.
    i don't think there are 2.
i believe everyone will be accountable, not just Christians.
rewards? never thought about rewards other than eternal life in Heaven, where i believe there is no sicknesses or troubles or bad anything, never in need of anything. its all good! i've heard people talk about mansions and whatnot...eh, as long as i'm with God with no negatives EVER, i could be happy in a tent. who wouldn't want to live with no ills and wrongs? never knowing hunger or pain or heartache or need?
jmho..and i'm good with that. robertson is a loonball.

  • I think there are 9 pies involved. If the pies embarrass you, you don't get through. Just a thought...

  • I was always taught that we will ALL stand before God and be judged for good and bad etc. The only difference as believers will have Christ with them on their side, kind of like a lawyer standing up for you and non-believers would be more like the pro se guy that goes into court alone.

  • Wrong we will all be judged. We will all have to answer for our sins.

  • Two different thrones? No. Two different judgments? Yes. You can read about the great white throne judgment in Rev. 20:11. Verse 6 talks about the first resurrection and the second death. There are so many opposing viewpoints on these subjects that I don't have the time or space to address them. The second death is the everlasting death of torment in the lake of fire for unbelievers who face the great white throne judgment. It is spiritual death--everlasting separation from God. Yes, we will all have to give an account before God, but Christians will experience the first resurrection and will not have to endure the great white throne judgment. That judgment is for the lost of all ages. Your question is a very hard one to answer and can't be answered in 940 characters. What will the rewards be? I don't have a clue.

  • Thoughts?  My first thought is that Pat Robertson is too crazy for me to seriously entertain any idea of his.

My second thought is that people believe a variety of things.  As for me, I don't believe there is any lake of fire or pearly gates awaiting any of us.  I am not at all concerned with the ideas of heaven or hell, or eternity. My only concern is for the life I have and for the lives I helped create, and the impact we have on this earth.  I am not at all worried about some mythical "judgement".

  • Yeah, but your a "witch" now, so how much faith should we have in what you "were taught"? [mustbegraceless]

So changing my beliefs negates previous experiences and lessons? Really?
