  • My daughter starting walking on her own at 13 months old. My son will be 7 months old in 3 days and hasnt crawled yet but he rolls all over the place and scootches and can stand by himself. Oh and by the way he is 22 pounds and his doc says that he is totally fine and healthy. He was a big baby at birth. Every baby is different and you cant go based off of charts. Thats just ridiculous. I'm proud of the fact that my son is big (when I say big I mean both height and weight, he's bout 30 inches long). He's not overweight or over fed. The weight will melt off when he starts crawling and walking. So dont be concerned with what others say about your babies weight. She is fine :)

  • My dd walked at 8 months and my ds walked at 14 months. The first stage is cruising. They will pull themselves up and walk around holding on to furniture like a couch or coffee table and may use a push toy or chair to walk around. Once they start letting go then it's walking.

  • When they do. **grin** Yours might attempt walking for a while but not be able to actually do it till much closer to a year old. Supporting 20 pounds can be a challenge for little legs, so he'll need to work up to it.

My brother was also a big baby. We have home movies of him trying to get up and walk at about 9 months... each attempt ended with him landing on his butt! He walked at around a year, much to my parents' relief!

  • Wow, i cant believe someone said 20 pounds is too big...its not! My ds was 21 1/2 pounds at 7 months, they are chubby then when they atart to crawl/walk they melt a bit. ANYHOW. I guess to some people they consider "cruising" actual walking, when its not, its when they let go and walk independently. One of mine walked at 9 months, the other at 11 months. Both were "cruising" at like 6 months or so. Its a vast age of "normal" Sounds like yours is getting ready tho! I would say you have another month or two to go.

  • SHES ABOUT 20 LBS NOT EXACTLY AND SHE WAS BORN A BIGGG BABY SO THE DR SAYS HER WEIGHT IS PERFECTLY FINE CONSIDER HOW BIG SHE WAS AT BIRTH. SO NO IM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT IT.. AND CHARTS DEPICT MORE NORMAL/AVERAGE SIZED BABYS GROWTH NOT OF ONE THAT WAS BIGGER TO BEGIN WITH.
