  • This is an example of what happens when stupid people get elected and nobody pays attention to what they do after they get there.

  • i HATE it! and since i live in Oklahoma i plan to do whatever i can to prevent it. a friend of mine has started a petition to put the bill on the ballot in November if (should say when) the Gov signs it.

what pisses me off most is that the Republicans have the majority in Oklahoma and they are spending that by doing stupid personhood bills?! why not fix our crappy ass education system (were in the bottom 10)? why not focus on creating jobs so our state stays ahead of the recession? why not do something about the "drink & drive" status of our alcohol laws? why not encourage ppl to lose weight (were top 10 obese)

it just comes off as "oh we have all these problems how can we fix them?"..."i know!! do our best to work around Roe vs Wade"..."perfect that will solve all our problems!!"

i look forward to the balance coming back in November b/c most ppl i know are sick of this "do nothing" state senate.

  • I disagree with it. I think things like late term elective abortions (one's that are done for the mother's convenience - not due to health risks to the mother if she were to give birth) should be banned. That said, I think the person-hood bill isn't the way to go either.

  • Okay, I've cooled down and have spent some time thinking about this in a calm (as calmly as I can, anyway) fashion.  Here are questions I have for the fine senators of Oklahoma:

    1)  If we are considering a fertilized egg a person from that moment of conception, are we no longer issuing birth certificates?  Will we now be issuing "conception certificates" instead?

    2)  If these fertilized eggs are now persons, should we be filing for social security cards for them?  If so, won't we have to name those eggs?  Will all children actually born, from now on, have to have androgynous names, like Pat or Stevie, since we can't know the sex of those eggs, but to have a social security card, we'd have to have some name attached to it?

  • 3) Should we start saving the issue from our periods, just in case the government wants to check for expelled fertilized eggs? We may need death certificates for any fertilized egg that, for whatever reason, didn't attach to the uterine wall. We may also need to have investigations launched to clear the woman of suspicion of manslaughter or homocide.

In fact, I think the good women of Oklahoma who oppose this new bill should start saving their used tampons and pads and sending them to, or placing them on the lawns and steps of the homes and places of employment for those who created and voted for such a law. We'll need to start proving our innocence, right from the start, by sharing proof that we're not pregnant for natural reasons, not because of criminal actions, like using contraceptives. . .

  • i just dont see the point to this law...what is it suppose to do? if it wont affect abortions, birth control use, IVF, or make women criminally responsible for miscarriages, etc. then why make it a bill? either its going to have dire consequences attached to it or its a waste of tax payers time/money.

i may vote blindly Democrat if they dont stop this stupidity (this isnt the only bill thats been a waste since our Gov went Republican majority).
