Would you agree that slavery is really having no choice?

I wonder then if we would agree that being adicted to anything would be considered being a slave to it.

I guess I have been thinking about the arguements for legalizing recreational drugs, since prescription drugs already are legal.

If you look at it from that point of veiw would you agree it would be wrong to legalize drug use as it would contribute to enslaving more people.

Those who chose illegal drugs had a choice and gave it up.

  • I guess you have a choice if you don't let something that is potentially addictive become a part of your life.
And if you KNOW that , you just don't chose it , even for just one day.
I like to feel good, stay alert and be healthy . I don't like the feeling that even pain pills have given me. I took one Percoset in 1978 for a wisdom tooth that was impacted and removed by surgery and it was too wierd so I only took the one.
Pain only lasts a day or two and I prefer that to feeling that wierd. spaced out pain pill feeling.
---so I have chosen to not be a slave to anything.
No pot. Only an occasional glass of wine. No cigs ( I quit 8 years ago) and I am feeling so good!
We all feel stress or fear or anxiety and all those other emotions but ...ACCEPT them because it is a sign that you are alive. Don't try to get rid of feelings.. Understand them and feel. And they will pass .

  • you do have a choice. Every person has a choice as to whether or not they try drugs the first time. We all know the dangers and the addictive qualities, so if you choose to forego those warnings and decide to give into peer pressure or take "drugging your problems away" into your own hands, then it's not "slavery" - choices begat consequences - you choose to do drugs the negative consequences are many, one of which is addiction. But again, choices begat consequences - you choose to get help and you can leave drugs in your past.

Life is full of choices, if you make a poor choice, you can choose again... even if it's hard or it seems impossible.

  • Some people can enjoy recreational drugs in moderation.... alcohol for instance and marijuana. I disagree with anything harder. Just my opinion though.
