after a girl from a movie.... I thought that was stupid. It has no basis in reality.
I would have MUCH rather prefered to be named after someone in my parents life that meant something to them... or a grandparent.

My first name is my mother's middle name, my middle names (I have two, lol) were from... the one is the middle name of my grandmother and the other comes from another grandmother or something, lol.

I was named for my grandfather's brother, Robert, who died while mom was pregnant with me; and my great- grandmother, Anna. Rachael Ann. By tradition we name to honor the dead.

I am named after my mom's grandmother, Fayge. My Hebrew name is Tzipporah Rachel. I don't have an English middle name but my Hebrew middle name is Rachel and I'm not sure who that it after. Like balagan_imma we name our children after the dead.

When I was a kid I hated my name and my mom told me that my grandpa had a friend named Shelby and she liked it so that's where it came from. When I got older- I was told that my dad picked the name because of Carol Shelby and his cars. When my dad died, we found the emblems from a Shelby in his tool box...we guess he was saving them for me
there was a shelby emblem and a cobra
