1 Bump

I wish they would sterilize the schools over the 3 day weekend.

Both my teens voluntarily went to bed at 8:30 due to exhaustion. It has been such a mild winter that the germs don't die. Kids are walking around with sore throats, coughing and sneezing but no fever. I can't even imagine what is going on in the k-2 and 3 - 5 schools.

  • Our schools are experiencing a 10% issue. At any time,at least 10% of the staff/students have the same virus
At 20% they close the school down for a super cleaning

  • It has been really bad down here too. Some sort of stomach bug is going around. One of the kid's I watch only had 6 kids in class today out of 23. He was one of the ones out sick. Plus there have been constant sore throats and runny noses, some of that is allergies, but not all.

  • I agree! My Son is in Preschool & has been constantly sick (just a constant stuffed up nose) since he started. My baby is 7 months old & has already been sick 3 times already. Grrrrrr................Poor little thing always has a drippy nose. When my Son was small his first cold was at 18 months which he got from toddler playtime at the library. She's a little trooper though :(

  • No kidding! thankfully my dd's head start does usually disinfect every weekend and even more so over a long weekend, but somehow there is still these horrible bugs going around, we've had a cold/cough thing for almost 2 weeks now cycling around plus the awful stomach bug that my little two and my dh have had this week, i'm just praying my older dd and I don't catch it :( I've cleaned and cleaned and disinfected and somehow the germs keep showing up so it must be from school :P

  • This has been a good year so far but they have closed schools here due to vomit flu. Does your school beg for hand sanitizer? It is in every room along with Clorox wipes for the desks. They pushed this when Swine Flu came out and it's helped by like over 50 percent.

  • That would be a good idea. What is even better is, these parents not send their kids to school KNOWING they're sick. That is why the crap keeps going round and round.

  • My one son is in preschool and says he has a headache and sore throat and also has a cough and stuffy nose for the past month and a half and my oldest has been complaining of a headache and sore throat and has had a cough but neither has had a fever for about the same length of time. We don't have a three day weekend but I so wish they would really disinfect the school this weekend and get rid of the germs as much as they can. We have also had a mild winter so the germs aren't being killed like they otherwise would be. I just encourage and remind my boys to wash their hands as much as possible and cough into their sleeves and everything else I can do to help prevent anything worse. Have also told them not to accept anything from other kids if they look the least bit sick.

  • But as long as a kid has no fever they are allowed to be in school. And once a kid is in high school attendance is a major issue in order to graduate.

  • We are the only house (so far) that has been virus free this winter. It must be because of the flu shots we don't get and the hand sanitizer we don't use; not to mention the meat and white flour we don't eat, and the milk we don't drink
