I don't want to live in this city anymore. Do you have those days?

I'm on the West coast and in my city people are not terribly friendly or polite. Maybe that's a big city. I'm over it and yet, very stuck. Dh can't get a job elsewhere for at least three years. I haven't met people here that I really like or can relate to, so many I meet including Moms are really selfish. This was not a problem before we moved here 15 years ago. Anyway, today I was so horrified by the idea of not getting out of here that I felt like screaming. I'm not saying I'm perfect but I'm from Canada where people are nice, polite, mannered...I'd almost rather be in NYC where at least people will bitch at you to your face. Then you know where you stand. Sorry, ranting.... : (

  • I did... I grew up in Detroit and later moved to one of it's surrounding cities... the traffic, the rude ppl, the change, the violence
I seen, it was becoming overwhelming.. I hated going to work sometimes, and I prayed for weekends bc dh and I went away
    most often...
Then we got a bit lucky, dh's work placed him in a rural area of the Thumb area in a small (1200 pol) town... within
3 months, I left my job and became a SAHGM and we found a place and moved and now you could not pay me to move back to a larger city... I even "white knuckle" when we drive that way to visit family... it has now been 10 yrs since the move and counting...
our change has caused over the past couple of yrs my mother to move from a large city to here and now my younger
sister will be moving up here this weekend and said she would rather drive the hr to work, than spend 24 there...

  • I understand, perhaps you would like living in a smaller city or town. The job market should be busting open during this year.

  • Everyday. I live in Honolulu and while it may seem like paradise to all the vacationers, the traffic is too much for me to take. I want to cry the minute I get on H1.

  • Yes but I have to constantly remind myself that the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side. I don't know where I'd ever be completely happy, I just know thats most days it's not here.
