  • It really depends on yourson. Is he ready to go or is he not a fast b;oomer?
Does he have friends in the neiborhood who are his age? Will they be going or waiting? It is really such and individual thing.

  • Each child is different. Do you think he can handle Kindergarten better at 5 or 6? Do you think he's developmentally ready? Will he have friends attending kindergarten this year? It really depends on your son.

  • It depends on the kid. My daughter started Kindergarten here when she was 4 (turned 5 in November. But she went to pre k last year and had been asking to go to school since she was 2 .

  • My daughter's birthday is Aug 31 and the cut off date for school is Sept 30. She was in a special pre-k program for ADD and lack of hearing due to enlarged addenoids, which were removed at age 3. Since the pre-k program was run through the school system she was closely monitored and they felt she was ready for kindergarten. There were times when I did regret not holding her back but it turns out that the class behind her has a real bad reputation. She is in with a good group of kids which does benefit her.

It is a hard decision to make. While she is now in 10th grade many of her friends have already turned 16 and are starting to drive. She still has to wait until the end of the summer. It is a very difficult decision. Good luck!

  • It is all child dependent. My DD would love to do kindergarten work and she could at 3 1/2. She is just advanced unfortunately she has to wait until she is 5 or we won't get credit for doing it. I have even had to hold off on a k4 program for that reason. If your child is socially and developmentally ready for Kindergarten then send him, if not hold him back another year.
