  • What? I know the doctor told me when I breast feed to wait 24 new before feed again if i consume alcohol unless i get super drunk then 48hrs pump the breast milk out prior to going out enough for baby to eat and not starve... And my doctor told me wine during pregnancy is ok as long as I'm not drunk and make it a habit

  • I think it is about the same, maybe a little more through breast feeding, but neither one is OK. If you are pregnant you shouldn't be drinking, and if you are breast feeding and you drink you should pump before hand and not breast feed for at least 24 hours.

  • It doesn't really matter, does it? Alcohol is a poison and should not be given to babies whether in the womb or in their food. It kills brain cells.

  • Seriously? Someone down voted her for saying babies shouldn't be getting any sort of alcohol? Winterglow is right, babies shouldn't get alcohol in or outside the womb because just like it does to adult it kills brain cells, and with babies it does it a lot faster, it also kills the liver a lot faster. So even a small amount it very bad.

  • More in the Womb.

A glass of wine is fine while pregnant, and while breastfeeding. If you do drink while breastfeeding, do not nurse if your blood/alcohol content is over the legal driving limit, which is about one drink per hour. You can pump if you need to for comfort, but once your blood alcohol lever has dropped to a safe point, your breast milk will also be the same. To pump and dump after the level has come down is a waste of milk. And for a doctor to suggest that shows his total lack of knowledge when it comes to breastfeeding. Which BTW is very common with doctors. In all their training they get about 3 hours on breastfeeding.
