Automated phone message

I'm perhaps the only woman here that didn't know until today, but I'd like to share what I found anyway.
When you call a company during office hours expecting to talk to a live person but all you get is the annoying automated message "press 1 for this, press 2 for that, etc" but never hear any option to talk to a live person, just go ahead and press 0 (zero). I don't know if all companies have this feature or not but it's worth trying. You'd be able to speak with someone.

  • It will not work for the majority of companies. Companies always are ahead of us. If you press "0" in some instances you will hear "Good Bye". But thank you for the tip.

  • OR you get: I'm sorry, I did not understand your selection. And the system will either hang up on you or start all over. Several years ago you could just push zero to get an operator, but not so much anymore.

  • Some you can just stay on the line and it will put you through to a rep as well, but like these other ladies said, not always the case.

  • If you can't push "0", and its a voice activated one (not a "Press 1 for... Press 2 for...), then just say all k inda of weird things. After two or three attempts to understand you, the automated crap will send you to a representative.
