3 Bumps

Is it wrong to use one of those baby leashes in a place like Disney world?

My DDs are 1.5 and 3.5. My 1.5 is a terror with the energy of a crack head. I'm so afraid she'll get lost in the crowd. She hates the stroller and my MIL said she was getting me one. So would you use it at Disney?

  • Absolutely!  It is very easy to lose a child in a crowd!

  • Oh yes I would! DH HATES that I got DD one, but she hates being held and hates being the stroller or the cart (at the store) and refuses to hold someone's hand...so that comes in very handy.

  • i would use them anywhere..the mall/grocery/DW...any place i needed extra 'hold', among a crowd of passersby who aren't minding anyone's business and likely to not pay attention? go for it.

  • I use on my son if we are in a very crowded place. Usually though the strap is around my wrist and I'm holding his hand. Its just a safety thing to me. If he gets away fast I still have him and if someone tries to scoop him up I still have a hold on him. Nothing wrong with that!

  • DEFINITELY would use it at a place like Disney! we've used them in the mall, at the zoo, anywhere there were tons of people and our kids even had the CHANCE to get lost! oldest dd was the worst when she was little cause she was like AF's dd, hated being in the stroller and didn't like holding hands, she wanted to walk or be held and holding her got VERY tiring :P haven't had to use them as much with our younger two cause dd#2 just likes to sit in the stroller (even though she's almost 5!) and ds is fine with riding or walking holding hands, he is shy and very OCD so never gets far from us anyways :P

  • I would and I have. With so many Disney trips under my belt I knew for certain my speed demon of a 2.5yr old would get away from us as sure as Mickey loves Minnie. I wasn't a fan of them before but felt like I'd rather have her experience a little freedom but always be within my reach and safe. It got to the point where she would take the leash from you and give it to who ever she wanted to hold it. It was funny as if she were saying "I've had enough of you, you're turn now".

  • YES! Disney is extreamly crowded. I went the last time when I was 19 and I was overwhelmed by all the people. I would love to take my kids sometime soon and you had better believe I am going to be using my handy dandy kid leashes. I don't care if people think I am horrible, but I would prefer to be looked at as horrible for using one of those rather than if I lost my child.

  • Our 2 younger sons are 13 months apart, and if it weren't for the older ones Elmo leash, I would have lost him in a heart beat. He's 9 yrs old now and doesn't even remember it. He just laughs when I tell him he had to have one, and he loved it when he was little because it had Elmo on it,lol.

  • It's a question you should never have to ask... It's something you can use IF you feel the need to use it. Anyone would rather see a child on a leash rather than a lost child, a hurt child, or what have you. If you feel the need to use it, who cares what anyone else thinks.
