When do i call the doc?

ds (8 months old) caught whatever virus/bug dd (3 years old) had 2 days go. He has barely taken since yesterday..maybe the day before that. He just doesn't want it. That being said, he has still wanted his solids, and more of them for that matter. So, last night he started getting sick, and around 3 this morning, he finally was able to get good solid sleep. He took maybe four ounces of formula from yesterday at 6 to now, and it's 1:30...he also took 4 oz of water today, he seemed to want it more than the formula. I get that when we're sick we don't want to eat, and that it's probably the same for kids/babies..what concerns me is he hasn't really been having wet diapers..i changed him 3 times last night from him throwing up everywhere, and they were ok, but he's barely peed today. Do I call the doc and get him in to be looked at? Do I just keep liquids in him (like water/pedialite/apple juice) and keep offering him his formula? What do I do? Dd always wanted her formula even when she was sick so this is completely new for me

  • If he's not having wet diapers, I would call the dr and ask. Do they have a nurse line?

  • I would of called first nurse or the doctors office and make an appointment
You don't want him getting dehydrated so buy some pedialyte.

  • call the doctor if he isn't having wet diapers. I wouldn't worry as much about him taking formula as just getting liquids into him. But call and talk to a nurse.

  • At his age they are going to want about 1 wet diaper every 6-8 hours. I would offer him whatever liquids he will drink even if it is juice. Just remember that the juice may give him diarrhea. I hope he feel better soon.
