  • Saturday market, farmers market, cold stone ice creamery, pottery making shops, local forts. There are odd museums in every state just about. Google the museums for your state.

  • Police station, fire station, grocery store bakery, farm, science museum, parks, aquarium, forest center, fish hatchery, hospital, doctors office.
We go on a field trip every time we leave the house. My kids are educated everywhere we go.

  • In addition to the above.... historical districts, state/national parks, wildlife refuges, police dept, dentist/physician offices or hospitals, fire station, city hall, electric/water/gas companies, aquariums, stadiums/arenas, ethinc areas of town (ex: Chinatown), product manufacturing plants (ex: Ford plant, Blue Bell Ice Cream plant, Frito-Lay, bakeries), birding trails, small town museums, etc.

There's a field trip everywhere you look --- you just have to know what you're looking for :-)

  • I like the local cemeteries and we go down to the Landing at the water's edge so we can discuss local history and try to trace the steps of the founders of our town. We also have an Indian Temple Mound. See if your area has a "bee" man/woman or a xmas tree farm or horse farm.
