  • I have been in your shoes twice since Christmas. The last time was just this week. Both times we were able to get our niece who we have custody of back because we worked with her friends. Mine is also 17. They usually will contact a friend.

  • I was a foster parent for many years. Sometimes they run b/c they are having a hard time dealing with their emotions; feelings of guilt for being in a home that they like/love; feelings of fear that if they are happy their world will crumble beneath them. And sometimes they just run b/c that is their nature. You can only love them and care for them but you can't change them. Make sure they are in counseling, preferably someone faith based b/c they will be able to show compassion and not be clinical all the time. Best of Luck and know that foster parents are a blessing of God to a broken family.
