philosophy or literature?

im having a hard time choosing. has anyone recieved a degree in either of these fields and could share with me the pros and sons of these fields?

  • If you can, possibly it would be wise to get degrees in both, or a major in one and a minor in the other. It would broaden your job possibilities, and I'd think that proficiency in each would augment the understanding of the other.

  • It's going to be an uphill battle to actually get a job with either unless you want to teach.

  • i was going to say that too, jobs are hard to come by, figure out what you want to do, then get the training to do it, that may be those fields or not... good luck! my dh's cousin has an english degree, philosophy for her masters and a phd in literature, she taught college writing and hated her job but was really interested in the field but it is hard to get a college teaching job so she was a junior professor and had to work with rude freshmen who were required to take her class and werent interested.
