Is 100.5 rectal considered running a low grade fever for a 14 month old??

  • You really should speak to your doctor's office about this.

    When my kids were little I didn't consider a rectal temp of 100.5 a fever even.

  • my doctors office is closed. I am not sure if I want to give him tyelnol yet or wait another hour before he goes to bed and then retake his temp.

  • I'd wait. There's a couple of reasons; first, the fever is good because it's not high enough to hurt him so it's evidence that his immune system is working well and, second, if you give it right before he goes to sleep it'll last through the night probably.

  • i would do the same and a cool bath as well before bed to help a bit!!!

  • I wouldn't do a cool bath maybe a cool cloth on his head but a cool bath can cause his temp to drop too rapidly which can cause a seizure
